  • No experience necessary! First time climbers can end up climbing many routes in a day! We have some amazing areas that are ideal for learning to climb.

    For folks with more experience, I will be sure to choose climbs that are a combination of challenging and fun for you.

  • After a conversation with me to communicate your previous climbing experience, I’ll be able to determine what routes up the Chief would be best for you. If you haven’t climbed outside much before, we can work together to dial in your stamina, crack and slab skills to best set you up for an ascent of the Chief. There are some great shorter and less intense multipitch climbs to cut your teeth if have no previous outdoor climbing experience. Lets chat to discuss.

  • Booking in advance helps, however if I am already booked I can set you up with one of my guiding team members. All the folks who guide for Kinley Aitken Guiding are ACMG guides with a shared passion for climbing and providing the highest level of guiding. They are not only talented and personable guides, they are friends and climbing partners who will communicate closely with me to make sure your day out is safe and full of learning and adventure.

  • While climbing in Squamish is possible all year long, the best bet for multi-pitching and longer stretches of dry weather is between April and October. Most instructional sessions can take place rain or shine as there are numerous sheltered areas to single pitch climb in event of rain and many multi-pitch climbs dry extremely quickly after wet weather.

  • Absolutely. There are a number of excellent areas to take the whole family climbing in Squamish. Often little kids love just swinging in their harness. Lets chat to decide what would be the best option for your family.

  • If you have your own climbing shoes, helmet and harness, great, bring them. If you do not have these items, not a problem, they may be rented from ‘Climb On’ located downtown Squamish. I will supply all the technical equipment such as ropes, rack, first aid, rescue. A complete packing list will be provided for you upon completion of booking.

    In addition to Climb On, Valhalla Pure’ Squamish and ‘Escape Route’ Squamish are both excellent outdoor apparel and gear shops in town.

  • I focus on rock climbing, however, I am happy to set you up with one of our local superstar alpine or mountain guides.

  • There are MANY amazing places to eat and drink in Squamish. Some of my favourites include: Fox and Oak, Sunflower Bakery and Cafe, Counterpart Coffee, The Salted Vine, Saha Eatery, Taka Ramen, Samurai Sushi, Bisla Sweets, Sunny Chibas, Flipside Burgers + A Frame Brewing, Luis Tacos, Backcountry Brewing and those are just the ones on the southern half of town!

  • There are a multitude of accommodation options in Squamish; campgrounds, hotels and the Squamish Adventure Inn (hostel) as well of Airbnb. Google is definitely going to be your best bet for booking.

    DO BOOK EARLY, accomodation gets really busy in the summer. The Stawamus Chief Provincial Park Campground is first come first served.
